Of the 6 pool companies listed for Richardson, in Dallas County, four build new pools: Aquavida Pools & Spas, Tahitian Pools, YMC Pool Builder and Paradise Pools Of Texas. The other two mostly clean, repair or service pools, or their websites did not say what they build. Before you call, decide whether the pool is for a home or for a commercial property, because the list splits on that.
For a new backyard pool, start with the gunite builders. Aquavida Pools & Spas builds tanning ledges, water features and fire features, and lists inground pools and gunite pools. YMC Pool Builder builds tanning ledges, water features and outdoor living spaces, and lists gunite pools and spas.
Commercial projects narrow the field. Aquavida Pools & Spas takes commercial work, according to its website. If you already have a pool and want it remodeled or resurfaced, Tahitian Pools and Summit Pool Works list that work.
If your property is nearer to Plano, Garland, Dallas, Wylie or Frisco, each has a page of its own.

Ask about soil and weather before you sign. North Texas sits on expansive clay that swells when it is wet and shrinks when it dries, which can crack a shell or a deck that was not engineered for it. Spring brings hail, and a hard freeze in winter can damage pumps and pipes, so ask how the builder protects the equipment.
Think about financing and warranty while you compare. Aquavida Pools & Spas and Paradise Pools Of Texas offer financing. Aquavida Pools & Spas, Tahitian Pools and YMC Pool Builder attach warranties, so ask each one what the warranty covers: structure, finish, equipment and workmanship. Aquavida Pools & Spas and Tahitian Pools also remodel and resurface, so either can look after the pool after it is built.
Experience and reviews make a good first filter. Tahitian Pools has worked in the area since 1986 and is rated 3.5 from 13 reviews. Aquavida Pools & Spas is rated 5.0 from 17, YMC Pool Builder 5.0 from 4 and Paradise Pools Of Texas 5.0 from 4.
Two companies on the page did not say on their websites whether they build: Integrity Pools and Summit Pool Works. Call and ask before you add them to your shortlist.
