Ask about soil and weather before you sign. North Texas sits on expansive clay that swells when it is wet and shrinks when it dries, which can crack a shell or a deck that was not engineered for it. Spring brings hail, and a hard freeze in winter can damage pumps and pipes, so ask how the builder protects the equipment.
Think about financing and warranty while you compare. Aquatic Arts Pool N Spa, Splash Pad Pool Builder, U.S. Pool Professionals, Hobert Pools & Spas, Pool Xperts and 3 more offer financing, with lenders such as LightStream and Lyon Financial named on their websites. Aquatic Arts Pool N Spa, U.S. Pool Professionals, Hobert Pools & Spas and PCR Pools and Spas LLC attach warranties, so ask each one what the warranty covers: structure, finish, equipment and workmanship. Splash Pad Pool Builder and U.S. Pool Professionals also remodel and resurface, so either can look after the pool after it is built.
Experience and reviews make a good first filter. Hobert Pools & Spas has worked in the area since 1975 and is rated 4.5 from 97 reviews. U.S. Pool Professionals has worked in the area since 2003 and is rated 4.6 from 168 reviews. Aquatic Arts Pool N Spa is rated 4.8 from 209, Splash Pad Pool Builder 4.9 from 183 and Pool Xperts 4.9 from 64.
